RAID: Shadow Legends Joins Forces with Monster Hunter for Exclusive Character Event

RAID: Shadow Legends, the popular role-playing game from Plarium Games, has embarked on another ambitious crossover, this time partnering with the Monster Hunter franchise. The alliance serves as the latest move in the game's strategy to diversify its character lineup, which in the past has included the likes of the streamer and gamer Ninja as a playable character.

Since the game's launch in early 2019, RAID: Shadow Legends has employed an aggressive marketing approach, harnessing the power of YouTube sponsorships and compelling gameplay to attract a massive player base. Revelations from the Israeli developers indicate that their gacha RPG has been downloaded over 75 million times and has generated revenue exceeding $1 billion. Since January 2020, fans have been able to enjoy the game on PC and macOS platforms, with consistent content updates rolling out across all available versions.

The most recent update brings a unique twist to the game, courtesy of Capcom's collaboration. This partnership introduces five new Legendary Champions into RAID: Shadow Legends, each equipped with distinct weapons and armors inspired by beloved Monster Hunter creatures, such as Zinogre and the formidable dragons Fatalis and Rathalos. Among the new additions is the Rathalos Blademaster Champion, who players can acquire simply by logging in for seven consecutive days during the event period, which spans from January 9 to March 5. The remaining four champions will be up for grabs through special in-game events that will unfold over the next few weeks.

A key aspect of this collaboration is the authenticity of the new characters. Plarium Games has ensured that these champions are not merely superficial copies; they boast abilities that reflect the well-known combat techniques of their Monster Hunter counterparts. Capcom's involvement in designing the crossover material is a testament to the seriousness with which Plarium is treating the expectations of fans from both franchises.

Beyond expanding the character roster, the crossover event incorporates several Monster Hunter-themed in-game activities. Plarium Games is also set to deliver a series of trailers that provide a narrative backdrop, explaining the intriguing emergence of Monster Hunter elements within the world of Teleria, where RAID: Shadow Legends is set.

As RAID: Shadow Legends opens the gates to a Monster Hunter adventure, another Capcom crossover nears its conclusion. Monster Hunter Rise is on the verge of withdrawing DLC items from collaborations with Universal Studios Japan and Sonic the Hedgehog by Sega on January 21. Players who manage to collect these unique items before the cutoff will retain access to them without any restrictions.
