Telegram Introduces Stories Feature for Premium Users – A Nod to User Requests

Telegram, the popular messaging app, has officially launched its Stories feature for Premium users, as confirmed in a company tweet on Friday. This follows last month's announcement by the company's CEO, Pavel Durov, that the app would be integrating the Stories feature, initially for its premium subscribers.

The Stories feature's release comes after years of user requests, which, according to Durov, make up more than half of all feature requests received by Telegram. The company was initially hesitant to adopt Stories, citing the ubiquity of the feature as a deterrent. However, the overwhelming demand from users prompted a shift in perspective, leading to the eventual rollout.

Durov had announced the introduction of Stories in July, marking a significant change in the company's stance. The move indicates a concerted effort by Telegram to prioritize user feedback and adapt to the changing digital landscape. The Stories feature, which allows users to share ephemeral photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours, has become a standard feature across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook.

While this feature is currently exclusive to Premium users, there is no official word yet from the company about when it will be available for non-Premium users. This exclusivity is likely a strategic move to encourage more users to upgrade to the Premium version of the app, which offers more features and benefits.

The rollout of Stories for Premium users demonstrates Telegram's commitment to improving its user experience and responding to user feedback. Despite the company's initial resistance to adopting the feature due to its ubiquity on other platforms, the user demand was too significant to ignore. The introduction of Stories on Telegram is a testament to the power of user influence and serves as a reminder that even established tech giants need to adapt to the evolving needs and preferences of their users.
